FREE resources, tech, science, and literacy Groundhog lessons

It will soon be time for our favorite weather predictor to pop out of his burrow and let us know if Spring is right around the corner or not.  I have been looking for some new videos and found some your students might like.

I just finished a new Groundhog packet.

Students will research groundhogs with the tech connection lesson.  There are charts like the page above that students can take notes.  When students get ready to write their report, there is a circle pie organizer and paper included to use.

Students will research the town of Punxsutawney and compare it to their own.  They will write their results on this Venn diagram.  There are also signs included so you can make a class size Venn diagram.

This is the perfect month to study the weather.  Students will predict what Phil will say on a graph.  There are signs so you can also make a class size graph. After Punxsutawney Phil makes his prediction, record the temperature and type of weather on the printable above to see if he was correct.

Students can write their reflections about the weather in the weather journal.  There are a variety of pages with different prompts.

Students will arrange the colorful word cards in alphabetical order and then record their answers on the page above.

Students will sort the colorful word cards into "ou" like groundhog and "oo" like balloon groups.  Then they will complete one of the three worksheets included with this packet.

Students will sort the colorful word cards into "sh" like shadow and "ch" like children groups.  Then they will complete one of the three worksheets included with this packet.

This can be set up as a center.  For the center, students will arrange the colorful letters into words.  Then they will record their words on one of the printables included with this pack.  You can also use this for seat work or homework because students can cut the letters off at the bottom of the page and arrange them into words, too.
